Isabel Fiala will compete at the FEI World Vaulting Female Championships for Austria. Get to know her in our mini interview!
1. Please describe yourself in three words.
> Spontaneously
> Strong
> Traveller
2. Who are your team members?
Trainer: Cornelia Raddatz&Veronica Greisberger , Lunger: Veronika Greisberger, horse: Pink Floyd
3. How did you experience the qualification process? What were your challenges on the way to the Championships?
Actually that’s a funny story. I stopped vaulting in 2019. Unfortunately, I never had a “last tournament” where I could officially say goodbye because of Covid. So I decided, together with Veronica, that we compete on the CVI Stadl Paura this Mai for fun. (it was 4 weeks before the competition 🤣) so we had 5 trainings together. In the end we won that first qualification competition, so it was clear that we will compete also at the second qualification. 5 days before that I got covid and was not allowed to compete.. The association has decided that we can still go to Herning😃 so that’s our story! Now we had another 7 trainings and are totally ready to rock the world championships. By the way; Veronica and Floyd are living in Salzburg and I in Vienna, so for each training I had/have to drive 3 1/2h each direction.
4. What was your best (or funniest) vaulting moment?
The best (until now) was the world cup final in Dortmund 2016, where Veronika, Floyd and me got bronce. And of course the first qualification this year where we moved into the lead of all Austrian vaulters.
5. What do you expect from the World Championships 2022? What are your goals?
I’m definitely not putting any pressure on myself. With a total of 13 training sessions, I don’t think I should🤣 I’m really looking forward to my first participation as an individual competitor on a championship.
6. What’s your freestyle theme 2022 and why?
It’s a fairy. So it’s Tinkerbell… Because that was also my freestyle theme at the world cup final in Dortmund 2016.
7. Any news or announcements for the Vaulting World?
I’m back! And it’s still unbelievable for me🙈
