Insiders have told us recently that there might be a new vaulting category in 2019, apart from individuals, pas-de-deuxs and squads: Synchronized Vaulting.

This is an initiative to make vaulting more interesting, popular and spectacular for non-vaulting people and the media. As you can see this is nothing new (click on the picture to see the video):

Synchronized Vaulting will include two horses with one vaulter each lunged by two lungers. Both vaulters have to perform the same freestyle exercises, perfectly synchronized in 1.30 minutes. It has not been defined yet whether there will be some obligatory exercises with criteria from the technical test. The vaulters can be both male, female or a mixed couple.

Another aspect, which has to be discussed during the next meeting of the responsible officials, is whether the horses will canter on two different circles or on the same circle.

Either way, the biggest challenge might be to synchronize the horses, which will be one of the scoring criteria. Additionally, there will be scores for creativity, difficulty, technique and synchronization of both, the vaulters and the horses.

Our undercover insiders prefer not to be named, but we will stay in close contact with them to keep you up to date with the decision-making process. We recommend you to start preparing immediately and get ready since the first trial competitions might take place during the current season.

Will you take the challenge to compete in Synchronized Vaulting? Tell us what you think!
